Chaloklum Diving plan a Marine Park trip (and Gavin’s back!)
We’re planning to take a break from Sail Rock in the next few days and make a dive trip to Angthong Marine Park for a change of scenery. Koh Phangan is not so busy now, after the full moon party, and we have a few of our regular divers who have been to Sail Rock already. This trip means some great snorkelling too; please let us know if you want to come along. The dive centre team are fit and well, taking it slightly easy after a busy full moon period. From the photo you can see that the Gavin is back at the dive school, and working on the Padi courses after a successful Scuba...

Chaloklum Diving are off for a diving and snorkelling trip to Koh Tao tomorrow, as the black moon on the Gulf of Thailand is currently making for a big tidal movement, which makes Sail Rock a little tougher than we’d like it! Local diving on Koh Phangan sites has been thoroughly pleasant however, as was the diving at the Marine Park on our dive trip there on Sunday. All’s good, although somewhat hectic, with the diving school team. A few Padi Open Water Diver courses, 2 ex-students returning for Advanced training, lots of people discovering scuba diving & a bunch of fun...

November always used to be the start of the “rainy season”, ie big waves plus lots of rain & wind, meaning not a lot of scuba diving or snorkelling! OK, the vis dropped for a few days after black moon, but yesterday conditions at Sail Rock were fine again with the current mild. And this morning Chaloklum Bay is totally calm & the sun’s shining from a blue sky. The bull sharks are still about & our last whale shark visitation was a few days ago, so the Rock remains our prime dive destination, although it would be nice to make some scuba dives at the Marine Park...

Post full moon party on Koh Phangan & a quiet month beckons; a great chance to get really personal Padi courses & enjoy peaceful dive sites! Sail Rock is still offering excellent scuba diving conditions & 2 days ago a fairly big whale shark, of the 5-6 metre variety made an appearance! Our last diving & snorkelling trip to Koh Tao was also fine, but we’re once again awaiting an update on conditions at the Marine Park. Not a lot of team news from the diving school, but we still seem to be eating out a lot & generally living the easy life so cannot complain! We had a...

August has been a busy scuba diving month on Koh Phangan so far, with Sail Rock getting a lot of attention due to its new residents. Please let’s not forget that there’s a whole lot more to the Rock than just bull sharks! And there are other fine dive (& better snorkelling) destinations available in the Gulf of Thailand; we are trying to promote diving trips to Koh Tao dive sites & the lovely Ang Thong Marine Park, so that we are not targeting Sail Rock every day! All’s good at the diving school, but we’ve been a little short on staff & it’s been...
