A Happy Scuba New Year from the Chaloklum Diving Team.

Hoping that all our scuba diving (& otherwise) friends had a Merry Christmas, & wishing all a Happy New Year from the Chaloklum Diving School massive. We have had a thoroughly festive time, this year without our usual Christmas day scuba dives due to a couple of days unpleasant weather! However we’re back in action again, with diving trips to Sail Rock today & tomorrow, plus a Koh Tao special in the pipeline (time for some snorkelling too). We’re still going to wait another day or 2 until we offer local dive sites & the Marine Park… At the dive centre...

Koh Phangan; Diving & Snorkelling still fine (what rainy season? pt. 2).

Koh Phangan; Diving & Snorkelling still fine (what rainy season? pt. 2).

And still the nice weather continues when it should be horrible. It’s a crazy situation when there are so few tourists here that we can only offer boat diving trips to Sail Rock, fabulous as it is. Dive sites like the Marine Park, Southwest Pinnacles & Koh Tao are just not possible because of a scarcity of scuba divers! But we’re not suffering too much; to make up for it we have been doing more scuba dives at a few of our favourite local dive sites, as we sometimes forget what Koh Phangan diving has to offer. The word is that our dive boat is now back in the water, &...

Chaloklum Diving, Koh Phangan Update, late August 2012…

August has been a busy scuba diving month on Koh Phangan so far, with Sail Rock getting a lot of attention due to its new residents. Please let’s not forget that there’s a whole lot more to the Rock than just bull sharks! And there are other fine dive (& better snorkelling) destinations available in the Gulf of Thailand; we are trying to promote diving trips to Koh Tao dive sites & the lovely Ang Thong Marine Park, so that we are not targeting Sail Rock every day! All’s good at the diving school, but we’ve been a little short on staff & it’s been...

Koh Phangan Scuba Diving is fine too

Posted by on 21 Mar 2012 in Plongée | 0 comments

Over the last few days we’ve been doing a lot of diving (& Padi courses) at Koh Phangan dive sites, &, looking at some of our photos we should do it more often. Check our Marine Life RSS feeds for some of our latest piccies. However Sail Rock does look like it’s clearing up, (do we dare say it!) with 10+ m vis & loads of fish today & we’re once again waiting to hear about Marine Park conditions… As Tom & Margot do their last diving trips with us (does Sail Rock always clear up just as you leave Tom ?!) before returning to chilly Germany,...

Good Scuba Diving on Sail Rock at last!

Posted by on 25 Feb 2012 in Plongée | 0 comments

As we hoped, the diving conditions at Sail Rock are clearing up. Today with visibility up to 15 metres (& loads of fish) we have a completely happy dive boat, as several of our scuba divers have been waiting some time on Koh Phangan for us to give the go-ahead… Local diving & snorkelling is also fine at the moment & we’ve made a few enjoyable diving trips by longtail boat. Good luck to Mr G with your visa run today & “see you soon” to our favourite Scuba divers, Heinz & Angie who are due to brighten up the dive centre in April! Not much news...
