Over the last week we’ve had regular encounters with a young whale shark as well as the usual great diving at Sail Rock. And, when we managed to find enough scuba divers & snorkellers to go there, we had an excellent dive trip to the Marine Park. As the wind direction is now turning to northeasterly, we also have nice conditions on the west coast of Koh Phangan. Needless to say, no flooding.
Members of the Coral Reef & Benthos Research Unit from the Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai, have been diving with us to study the state of Koh Phangans coral reefs, along with our local expert, Eike from Core Research & “Sponge Mike” from the University of British Columbia (see above). It was great to have them with us & we truly hope we can do something together with them (hopefully with the other dive schools of Koh Phangan too) in the near future. Best wishes to Sakanan, Winai & Mike from all of us.
Please note that our Marine Life Guide is still fully functional, but we’ve stopped doing any more uploading while we move to a new, upgraded gallery with a whole load of new pics. Nick is deeply engrossed in the job of sorting, labelling & uploading the new photos at this very moment…
The Best of Wishes from Chaloklum Diving.
