Koh Phangan; Diving & Snorkelling still fine (what rainy season? pt. 2).

Whale Shark at Sail Rock, Oct 2012And still the nice weather continues when it should be horrible. It’s a crazy situation when there are so few tourists here that we can only offer boat diving trips to Sail Rock, fabulous as it is. Dive sites like the Marine Park, Southwest Pinnacles & Koh Tao are just not possible because of a scarcity of scuba divers! But we’re not suffering too much; to make up for it we have been doing more scuba dives at a few of our favourite local dive sites, as we sometimes forget what Koh Phangan diving has to offer.

The word is that our dive boat is now back in the water, & it’s just an engine servicing away from coming back to Chaloklum. We live in hope! Dive centre team-wise we must welcome a new member; a trusted freelancer previously, the mighty Gavin will be taking a more active role with the diving school in future. Michi’s due back in the next week or so from his exotic diving expedition, & after a few years away from paradise, DM Mr Vince is on his way to join us for a while, or so it says on facebook… On the Padi training front we are starting 2 Open Water Diver courses in the next days, & must congratulate our pro trainee Mark for cruising through his divemaster final exams today (didn’t we tell you that it would be easier than you expected?!!).

Please check out our u/w photos in the Marine Life Guide & feel free to give us some feedback. Nick has been spending more time in the dive centre slaving over a hot computer (suffer boy, suffer), filling out the text & uploading more & better photos. And do check out the RSS feeds if you want to keep updated.

The Very Best of Wishes from Chaloklum Diving.
